In 1945, Ernest Andersen (Andy) started to repair used cars in the backyard of his parents' house. At the time, due to WWII, there was a tremendous shortage of automobiles. Factories could not build them fast enough and as a result they were expensive. Andy's customers, aware of his potential and honesty, started to tell him that he should not only fix used cars but also consider buying and selling. He took the advice and started by purchasing one to two cars at a time from used car dealers, repairing them, and finally selling them at the so called Andy's Auto Sales.
In 1950 Andy was selling cars on a steady basis, having transformed his backyard into a well-established business, with a chain of dependable customers who always returned. In mid 1950's Andy was no longer buying from used car dealers, but from huge dealer auctions. The business continued to expand through word of mouth and repeat sales until 1978, when Andy's oldest son Ernie Jr., right out of High School came on as a full-time help to his father. Ernie naturally grew up with the business, washing cars during summer vacation as a child. After joining the business, he attended Technical School in order to get the proper training in car repairs and became the official head technician, periodically attending classes in order to keep up on technological advancements.
Ten years later Kurt Andersen, the youngest son also became a full-time part of the business, having also attended Tech School for a basic training. Kurt assumed the responsibility of most of the buying and selling. Although each one of the brothers has their specific positions, they both do what it takes to run a family-owned business. They carried on the tradition of providing reliable transportation to the general public at reasonable prices.

In 1995 Andy's became a corporation where both sons joined a partnership with their father. In an ever-growing aggressive society where coldness and impersonality prevail, it is comforting to know that there are still family-run businesses one can truly rely on. The essential advantage in buying cars from the small family-owned business in contrast to contemporary big dealerships is the intimate relationship the buyer develops with the seller, who in turn is the owner himself, and not just one of many employees. The result is the unlimited attention combined with the responsibility every owner has over his own product. As Andy says: "I never wanted to get larger because it would mean that I would have to hire people from outside and chances would be slim to get people with the same integrity and sense of loyalty".
Many of Andy's customers have been coming back for years and have practically become part of the family. Customers are so impressed with Andy's integrity that they send letters of thanks. An excerpt from one of these letters is "An honest salesperson is one who sells goods that don't come back, to customers who do".
Andy's is not just another small business; it is the living proof of two generations of earnest integrity and dedication. It is to people of such principals, who have contended to maintain establishments of such importance in our daily lives that our society owes its progress to.
